Knitting - Stephanie is always busy creating New items...We have a new Knitting Block of the Month Afghan and her NEW 3 Button Wrap made with Lump Bumpy and Ruffle Wrap has been a huge success, she has made it with several yarns, you choose the one you like.   As usual it is a easy pattern even for beginners, but it creates something all your friends will want, she has the pattern available using several different types of yarn.  Check out the Knitting Page to see the NEW SAMPLES.  We also offer classes for beginners and experienced knitters.  If you are just looking for a place to come and knit our sitting area is always open and you will probably meet a few new friends while you are there.

New Quilting - Check out the Quilting Kits page to see some of the NEW Quilt Kits from the 2008 International Quilt Festival.  This year we will be doing the Little Womens Club from Jo Morton as a monthly project, check in the store for details.  We continue to expand the FABRIC, we have almost 2,000 bolts.  We are carrying lines from Moda, P&B, Benartex, Red Rooster, Timeless Treasures and more.  We have also expanded our patterns, books and magazines for all the quilters.

Whats new with the family, Christopher is off at Sam Houston State for his first year at college and doing great.  He is in the Honors program with a major in Business and has been making great grades.  Jennifer is still busy at Klein Collins High School and keeping her grades up too.  She is playing Soccer and is active in FFA, raising a pig.  We will have to get some pictures of her with her pig on the web site soon.

Hen House History - How did I get the name?  Well as a child I spent most of my free time at my grandparents farm.  They had an egg farm and I spent a lot of time at the hen houses.  I also spent time with my grandmother and she taught me to knit, crochet and quilt.  It is the love for these crafts, my grandmother and the time we spent together that makes me enjoy having a store like this.  We use some of the old chicken coops from the farm to store the yarn and fat quarters in.

Just a little about the head chick.  I have a husband, son, daughter, and parents that have been a GREAT support.  I have been very blessed to meet some great customers and friends and really enjoy being part of their lives.  Most days you will find one of us here, we hope to see you soon.
